We are located approximately 22 km from Archer’s Post, right next to the bridge, and just a 5-minute drive from Samburu Lodge. The drive from Nairobi takes about 6 hours, and we can arrange a driver for an additional cost. Please inquire for more details.

Upon entering Archer’s Gate, take the main road for approximately 20 km, following the signs to Samburu Lodge. When you reach the signpost indicating the turnoff for Samburu Lodge, do not turn left; instead, continue down the main road until you come to the next road on the left. Turn onto this road and proceed straight. You will see a sign for the "research centre" on the right; however, we are not this turnoff but the next one on the right. It's a narrow road, but we are tucked away in our own secluded corner of the reserve.

Samburu National Reserve is located in the southeastern corner of Samburu District in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is bordered to the south by the Ewaso Nyiro River, which separates it from Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Samburu boasts an abundance of wildlife set against a stunning backdrop, with the river serving as its lifeblood, fringed by doum palms and accompanied by distant mountains. After the long rains, the landscape transforms into a vibrant carpet of lush greenery and wildflowers. In addition to the typical wildlife, Samburu is home to the “Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx. The elephant population here is remarkable, and we believe the reserve offers some of the best elephant viewing experiences in Africa, allowing for up-close encounters with these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. We also have a variety of big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards, along with occasional sightings of wild dogs, nocturnal animals, and a diverse array of birds.
